Attendance Information

• When a student will be absent, notification should be provided to the school before or at the start of the school day, when possible.
• To excuse an absence, written or electronic communication citing the reason(s) for the absence must be provided to the school no more than five school days following the date of the absence. 

How to report an absence

• Absences can be reported in ParentVUE the same day of the absence.

• Alternatively, a parent/guardian can either send in a signed note, or an email to [email protected] from the email address associated with your ParentVUE account, including the following information:

  • Student's first and last name and homeroom teacher
  • The date(s) of absence(s)
  • The reason for the absence (if due to illness, please provide what the student's symptoms are and when they began)
  • Pursuant to county regulations, absence acknowledgments should be received within five days from the absence and will be reviewed/updated by the school.

• Students who are not in their classroom/first period by 9:20 a.m. will be marked tardy.
• A student's tardy will be recorded as excused or unexcused based on whether the reason for the late arrival meets the excused or unexcused absence criteria outlined in the PWCS Attendance Guidelines.

• No early dismissal of students will be allowed after 3:00 p.m.
• Please come to door 1, and provide a valid picture ID. The student will be called down to the office upon your arrival to the school. 

Why did I receive an absence notification?

When a student is marked absent by their homeroom teacher, even if the teacher and/or school is aware of the reason for the absence, an automated phone call, text and/or email will occur at approximately 10:00 a.m. on the day of the absence to the parent/guardian.
