Looking for ways to keep your child academically active during the
summer? Please visit the "Useful Links" tab to the left for a variety of online resources.  Students can also access their IXL and Education Galaxy accounts by logging in to the Office365 account, clicking on the "waffle" in the upper left hand corner, then scrolling down to the "Clever" icon.  From there, they will not need passwords to work in IXL or Education Galaxy (or a variety of other resources).

I've added IXL logs under the MATH IXL tab for our Geometry and Place Value units.  Please visit those tabs to see current review work students can access and complete.

Also, I have added some Education Galaxy assignments they can access by logging in to their Office365/Clever/EducationGalaxy accounts.  As communicated by PWCS, these assignments cover standards students have already received instruction on and are optional.

Our Instructional Calendar can also be found under the Files and Documents tab.

IXL Assignments are listed under FILES AND DOCUMENTS Folder
IXL logs for Math and Language Arts for home practice are posted under the Files and Documents Tab in Math and Literacy under IXL Assignments.  Students are encouraged to practice these modules at home to reinforce classroom learning.  Students also have time during our CORE Extension to work on these modules.

If you choose -  print out a log and initial your child's completion.  Students will earn SOAR tickets for each module completed.  Students must receive a 90% or higher to get credit for the module.  IXL logs can be turned in as students complete them, there is no specific due date.  Student progress is monitored weekly.

Students need to be sure they are working in the correct subject and module.  Be sure to check the tab at the top of the IXL page to choose your grade level and subject.

<  IXL LOGS WILL NOT BE SENT HOME>  ALL IXL logs can be accessed from this web page.  Click on the files and documents tab to the left to access the logs.

READING
Ways to help at home:  Read every night for 20 minutes.  Have your child respond to his/her reading - ask your child to summarize what they read, discuss the main idea of the chapter, make connections, what the author's purpose is, and if there was a moral message the author wanted you to learn, discuss genre, new vocabulary
Reading Homework = Read 20 minutes every night

Comprehension Checks are given every Friday on the Reading Strategy/Skill for the week and taken as a quiz grade.  Please refer to the IXL Language Arts log to see our current area of focus for the week.

WRITING/GRAMMAR/VOCABULARY

Practice with restating the question
Ways to help at home:  Review the writing rubric that comes home with the final draft paper.  Review missing capital letters, punctuation, indents, use of transition words and reread the paper together to check for clarity

VOCABULARY
Student Spelling City letters were sent home with students.  We will be working with a new vocabulary list each week and students will have time to work on Spelling City in class.  If you are looking for extra practice with spelling and vocabulary building, Spelling City is a great tool to use at home when you wish!
